How Do I Check My Oil Metairie La
Checking your oil on your own is surprisingly easy, and something you should do each time you fill up your gas tank. Let Lexus of New Orleans teach you how!
- Find the oil change dipstick. This is usually a brightly colored handle with the “oil” icon on it attached to a long stick.
- Pull out the dipstick and clean it off. Some oil will splash on the indicator and give you a false reading, so clean the little bit of oil off with a paper towel or rag.
- Reinsert the dipstick all the way in, then pull it back out.
- Check the oil level. The dipstick will have a wider section toward the end, and the oil level should be in the middle of that section.
- Reinsert the dipstick! Don’t forget this step, because it happens often. If the oil level is extremely low, most gas stations have spare oil to purchase. Use your Owner’s Manual to determine what kind of oil you need to add, and feel free to ask questions!
